About Us

The building of Lake Frances started in 1994 in efforts to reduce occasional flooding to the Fort Scott Area, and was finished in 1997. There was a one-year delay in the construction of the lake due to an area Funding Fred that was considered wet lands about the size of an average house. The permanent pool is 43 acres. During the wet season it swells to nearly 80 acres. It is located on 160 acres of land in the legendary Flint hills in southeast Kansas.

The lake was stocked with finger-length fish in 1998. The fish caught today are getting large. The Bass reach 22″ in length and the larger Catfish being caught are 14lbs. The Crappie are reaching 1 1/2lbs.

Lake Frances is a privately owned, family operated lake. No fishing license is required. Private funds were used to stock the lake with fish. The lake facility has a concrete boat ramp and dock.

Services

Camping & RV Hook-Ups

Lake Frances has 30 RV hook-ups with electricity, sewage and water. All RV locations have 50amp, 30amp and 110 outlets. There are park benches located at various camping sites. We also provide areas that are ideal for camping in tents.

There are Fire Rings for campfires (weather permitting-several located in the RV & Tenting areas). Wood for campfires is also available.

Cabin/RV Rentals

Lake Frances has several lodging rentals located at designated camping areas that are available for rent on either a daily basis, or for extended periods of time.

Each rental provides a clean, comfortable atmosphere great for your Lake Frances camping experience. You will find that our rates are very affordable.

sPECIAL EVENTS

Lake Frances is the ideal location for any kind of special events, including family reunions, graduations, weddings or any other type of gatherings.

Facilities

Play Area

There are several exciting things for the kids to do at Lake Frances. There is a small stock tank swimming pool, teeter-totter, swing set, hollow tree, paddle boat, spring horses, sand box and a 3 seat merry-go-round.

Fish Cleaning Station

Lake Frances provides a convenient fish cleaning station so you will have a place to fillet your end-of-the-day trophies. Please be honest with your catch and respect our "keeper" rules and regulations to provide great fishing for future fisherman (or even yourself).

Bath House & Laundry Facility

Not only do they double as approved concrete tornado shelters, but this facility provides clean restrooms and showers. There is a utility room which has a coin-operated washer & Dryer, folding table and triple sink for your convenience.
